“He is a legend in Texas law enforcement, and I am truly honored to have his trust.”
Fort Worth, TX - Today, Wise County Sheriff Lane Akin endorsed Chris Putnam’s campaign for the Texas 12th Congressional District.
Sheriff Akin said, “As a Texas Sheriff, I see firsthand the threat that our porous border poses to the safety and security of Texans. The flow of deadly methamphetamine and human trafficking must be stopped. We need a Congressman in Washington who will fight to secure our borders, stand with law enforcement, and help us keep Wise County safe. I trust that Chris will be a vocal leader on these issues, and will listen to and support Texas law enforcement in these essential efforts.”
Putnam said, “I am proud to receive the support of Sheriff Akin. He is a legend in Texas law enforcement, and I am truly honored to have his trust. The crisis at our border, which directly impacts every community in the Texas 12th, is a direct result of Congress’ inaction on border security and immigration reform. Sheriff Akin and Tarrant County Sheriff Bill Waybourn, who previously endorsed me, are sending a clear message to Washington DC that it’s time for fresh leadership on these issues.”
A native of Texas, Sheriff Akin and his wife Kay moved to Decatur in 1992 where Lane served as the Texas Ranger for Wise, Jack, and Montague Counties. He began his career at Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport with their Department of Public Safety (DPS) when the airport opened in 1974. Two years later, Lane joined the Texas DPS. He served as a Highway Patrol Trooper, a Narcotics Agent, Texas Ranger, and a Texas Ranger supervisor. He was twice named Law Enforcement Officer of the Year by the Wise, Jack, and Montague County Criminal Justice Association.
Putnam is a retired tech executive and a conservative reformer who will fight every day in Washington to cut taxes and spending, defend innocent lives, secure the border, and protect the Constitutional rights of every individual American.
